Wow.Interesting turn this is.Well, I DO know there are different Irick origins in this country. MY line goes from Kansas (1870-80s)/Indiana (1830s-1870s)/Ohio(1810s-1830s)/Virginia(1800s-1810s)/Pennsylvania(1760s-1800s)/Germany (1760s-?).There is another line that went from VA/TN/KY, and I believe one that came over and started in SC.You'll need more names and dates to see where you fit in.
As far as my lineage and name origin: it got changed from Eurich to Irick (parent spelling and child spelling of last name different on birth record).According to a German speaking neighbor; the old spelling sounds the same when pronounced in german (eu is long I, i is short I sound, ch same as hard ck).
Maybe this helps.Back in early-mid 1800s families had several children (mine had 12 between 1834-1854), so imagine how that tree could have spread out after 150+ years.That's why you need to work your way back further.
