Hello Cousin:

I just ran "Nathaniel Ireland" through google brouser and came up with your message.Nathaniel IRELAND and Mary COOK are my g-g-g grandparents.Their daughter Julia (not Julian) married Augustus GOODWIN, whose daughter, Mary GOODWIN married William KIRK, their daughter, Mertie KIRK married Horace BEST, my grandparents.Mertie was named for Mertie COOK, her mother's cousin or aunt, I think, who attended her home birth.

I have the death certificates of most of Nathaniel and Mary Ireland's children, in my effort to find more about them.I have a 1909 invitation to a Cook/Ireland reuntion. My grandparents discovered that they were fourth cousins. My grandfather, Horace BEST's great-grandmother was Ruth IRELAND, daughter of Losee IRELAND.My grandmother, Mertie KIRK BEST's great-grandfather was Nathaniel IRELAND.It was explained to them that Ruth and Nathaniel were cousins. That would make Nathaniel's father a brother of Losee and both (probably) sons of Thomas IRELAND of Rennesyler (sp) Co., NY and before that, of Long Island. We have not figured out which of Losee's brother's was Nathaniel's father, but we think maybe James. All of Thomas's children are known as his will names, hopefully, all of them. The will is available on the internet.Where did you get the name "Willet"?I have done a lot of Ireland reseach, trying to bridge that gap and have not run across that name before.

I can provide more specific information at a later date.
Joan Best
