There were a couple of Henry Izards in my line. The surname has been spelled many ways, apparently it depended on the preference of each person because it could be spelled differently within the same family.
The one Henry Izard of the 1700's that I know anything about was born in Cape May Co, New Jersey and served in the Revolutionary War as a private. He did survive the war and was listed as recieving a pension of $50. per year.I found this out when an elderly aunt left me her paperwork for gaining membership with the DAR.
A descendent of Henry's was Isaac Isard, who ended up later in Missouri in a cavalry unit during the Civil War and then he moved onto Kansas, where he and his son, Columbus Ferdinand Isard are buried in Marysville, Kansas.Hope this helps.Debra Murray
