'Am still trying to clarify this Isham-Vere connection 'gap/confusion'-then ran into this problem. Americans of Royal Descent by Browning 1897 Vol II, pg 716 has the descent of the Ishams from Otto I, the Great. It matches what I have except when it gets to Euseby Isham of Pytchley-it lists the following:
Euseby Isham of Pytchly, eldest son m. Anne, dau of Giles Pulton of Derborough son *Henry Isham, Comptroller of the Customs m. Jane Beesley, a Maid of the Wardrobe to Queen Elzabeth. son *Gregory Isham of Barby m. Elizabeth, dau. of Robert Catalyne of Raundes son Henry Isham at Laguna, in the Canaries in 1624, at Bermuda Hundred, Va. m. Katharine Royal widow Joseph Royal dau. Mary Isham m. William Randolph
I have the son of above Euseby as William m. Mary Brett son Henry m Katharine Banks Royall had dau. Mary...
Has anyone ever seen that previous line with *Henry & *Gregory instead of William etc.? Which is correct? It can't be both ways. I got involved in this trying to find out the ancestry of Elene Vere who m. Thomas Isham of Pytchley. Browning seems to have clarified that-& filled in 'missing generations' but now I find this other 'Isham thing'. Can anyone clarify this? Please!
