When I first ran across this will, I did not read the will and saw Lodwick Isley, Junr and automatically put this information with Ludwig Isley, brother of Malachi Isley. I did this without thinking since most people seem to think that the father of Ludwig and Malachi was also named Ludwig.
After careful review of this will, I see now that I may have made a mistake. This will specifically makes mention of“till my oldest child comes of lawful age”. Once I read that, it led me to believe that this could not be the will of Ludwig, brother of Malachi. To the best of my knowledge, ALL of that Ludwig’s children were already of lawful age in 1788.
So, who is Lodwick Isley Junr who had a wife Elizabeth? I’ve just recently started researching Malachi’s brothers. I believe that both Ludwig and Lewis had wives by the name of Elizabeth.
Is this possibly a will of Lewis Iseley who is also supposed to be a brother of Ludwig and Malachi? I’ve often seen a possible birth year of 1735 for Lewis. Is this a definite date and evidenced by a grave marker or other documentation? Or, could Lewis have actually been a son of Ludwig and therefore known by the Lodwick Isley, Junr?
I ran this information by Rex Isley yesterday. He too has not done much research on the descendants of Ludwig and Lewis but did extensive research in trying to determine the first generation of our Isley families in America. His thoughts about this will were the same as mine. Rex says that the name Ludwig in English is Lewis. That makes me wonder why the father would have essentially named two sons the same.
I welcome all assistance in helping me to clear up my confusion.

woodyhood is the exact word that is written on the document. I am certain that it was meant to be widowhood. vendue - a public sale by auction (Webster's Collegiate Dictionary)
It would appear that all of Ludwick and Elizabeth's children are under-age at the date of this will. Does anyone have the date of his death? Where does Palliser Isley fit in? I do not have that name in my files.
