I was unaware of any black children born to Greenberry Floyd (1825-1907) but I do know that his father James had several children born to him and a black woman listed as Patience Isom in the 1870 census.James' will list his black sons as well as his white sons from his first two marriages. Were you speaking of James or Greenberry Floyd (1825-1907)?What documentation do you have that the black woman was the wife of a slave?Patience is listed as Patience Isom in census data and in the 1880 census she still maintians the Isom name.
You might be aware that there are three or more Greenberry Floyd Isoms in this family so it is always good to use birth dates with thier names to be sure you have the right one.
Clayborn Isom's children, as I have recorded are: Children: William Parks (1844-1912) James Alexander (Red) (1846-1916) Martha Catherine (1847-1888) Mary Frances (1849-1929) Tranquilla (1850-~1934) Malinda (1852-1918) Sarah Harris (1855-1937) Amelia V. (1857-1937)
We are definitely looking at the same family. Our line involves James third wife and family.
