Here' s a related posting to my earlier posting. I received the death certificates for William Ivory and his wife Ellen and discovered that my great-grandfather indicated Canada, not Brooklyn, as the birthplace for his father-in-law, William Ivory. However, when he filled out the death certificate for his wife (the daughter of William Ivory, he indicated that NY was the birthplace. So far, no one has replied to my Ivory-in-Brooklyn posting. Does anyone have any info on a William Ivory, born in Canada, who immigrated to Brooklyn and married Ellen Corcoran. They had four children: Catherine Ivory, George Washington E. Ivory, Thomas Ivory, and a second daughter, Mrs. Collins. All six apparently ended up in Chicago by the 1880s.
