Alan et al. It's been a long time between postings. I just recently learned that my g-g-grandfather, William Ivory, son of John Ivory and Mary Lyons, had two brothers, John and Thomas. They left Co. Waterford in the 1820s and settled in Quebec. Thomas left and went to France for a number of years. He returned in about 1852 and went to Brooklyn where he owned a series of bars, restaurants, hotels, etc., He and his brother John achieved some social prominence: I found over 40 articles about them in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle. Howver, William, the one I am most interested in, continues to elude me. But given a lot of circumstantial evidence, I believe he was born not in Ontario Province but in Quebec City. He immigrated in about 1850, as a child or teenager, and, I believe, served in the Civil War. Whether there were more children than these three brothers, I don't know, but I thought I would post this followup for you.
