As far as I know, I guess I am not directly in this line. However, I just don't know.I am researching the William Gean who had dealings with the Izzard's & Pickard's in the early 1800's.I think he is the grand-father of my William Polk Gean.I think it is interesting that he was the bondsman for several of their marriages, and then almost 50 years later his grandson (or grand-newphew) married a Pickard.I think that maybe, William Polk and Eliza were some type of cousin, but since I don't know for sure who William's grandfather was, or even who William's grandmother was, I have no proof, either way.
The William Polk Gean who married Eliza Pickard is my 4th great-grandfather.However, she is his first wife.Until recently I thought she passed away, but I located her with her mother in Bingham TWP, Orange Co., NC in 1870.He moved to MS after the civil war and re-married.His wife Lucretia is actually my 4th great-grandmother.
In 1860, William & Eliza, with her mother Jane, were enumerated in Chapel Hill, Orange Co., NC.Next door to them is an Alfred Pickard and his family.I don't know if he is related or not, as I have not had a chance to find his 1850 census.
In 1850, Jane is listed as the head of household, which inludes Eliza and another daughter Julia.
Does any of this make sense? As you can see, I still have loads of research to do in order to connect all my dots.
