William Henry Izzard, London, DOB unknown, but likely 1850 to 1880.He is the father of Gertrude Emma Izzard, who is also my grandmother.I just received a copy of the marriage certificate of Gertrude and my grandfather Frank Edward Turnham, married 31 May 1920 in Edmonton, Middlesex, England. William Henry Izzard is listed as bride's father, and his occupation is listed as "Stage Actor".Do you have any information at all regarding Gertrude's mother?
Gertrude is the mother of my father (Douglas Frank Turnham 1921 to 200).For reasons unknown (to my family) Gertrude left Frank Edward Turnham about 1924, and left my father with Frank Edward. They resided at the time at 130 Tanners Hill Road in Deptford, London.
It is interesting to hear that you believe Gertrude was raised in a convent, as I had been unable to locate a 1901 Census for her (she would have been abt 1 year old).I found a 1911 Census, where a Gertrude Izzard is residing with the Arthur Reeve family, and is listed as second cousin, DOB 1900 Hertford, Herfordshire, which agrees with what I believe to be correct. There are a couple of William Henry Izzard's in Hertfordshire, but I have not yet been able to confirm any match. The "sent to Australia" aspect is also interesting, and perhaps worth following.
I had earlier found your mother Marjorie Ruby Mason, and knew she married Aubrey Freeth.I had seen your public tree posted on Ancestry.com and had tried to send a message, but regret I am not a paid subscriber.
Our family moved to Canada in 1957, when I was only 3 years old, so have had little connection, especially since the death of my grandfather in 1965.
Tony, I would love to correspond with you further. This has left a big gap in our family history, and would love to expand our knowledge, and share information.
