Dear Mr. Golz:I believe we come from the same family (I stem from Edwin/aka "Edward", even though you have a few different names than we do--there are several in common, too, though. Mark Jacoby (another genformum poster) and I have just discovered, too, that we are, indeed, related. Here is what we know so far, based upon some confusing records that we from our grandfather, Edwin/Edward, child (of August Jacoby/Jacoba) found:
Descendants of August-G. Jacoby/Jacoba--NOTE: WE MAY BE MISSING ABOUT 4 CHILDREN HERE...at least that's what it looks like when I read some of the other postings:
Generation No. 1
1.AUGUST-G.1 JACOBY/JACOBA was born March 1858 in Germany; immigrated in 1883; may have married just before/after immigration. He married ELIZABETH-MARIE MILLER-VS-KROENING 1883 in unknown; marriage date per 1900 census data. She was born November 1861 in Germany; immigrated in 1883; may have immigrated just before/after immigration.
Children of AUGUST-G. JACOBY/JACOBA and ELIZABETH-MARIE MILLER-VS-KROENING are:
i. FRANKLIN2 JACOBY, b. February 13, 1884, unknown; d. June 1980, Wisconsin Rapids, WI, per Social Security Administration.NOTE: WE KNOW THAT THIS MAN WAS IN THE FAMILY BECAUSE OUR GRANDMOTHER HAD HIS NAME/ADDRESS, AND MARK JACOBY JUST CONFIRMED DATA FOR US TODAY--FRANK WAS HIS GREAT GRAND-FATHER.
ii. JOSEPH JACOBY, b. Bet. 1885 - 1899, assumed to be Wisconsin; no Social Security data found on him; may have died prior to 1935 or in another state.
iii. CLOREY JACOBY, b. January 1886.
iv. HERMAN JACOBY, b. March 30, 1889, Wisconsin; d. February 1964, assumed to be Wisconsin.
v. ALBERT JACOBY, b. July 1890.
vi. EDITH JACOBY, b. Bet. October 1892 - 1894, Wisconsin; her census entry is written over; either born 1892 or 1894.
vii. ARTHUR JACOBY, b. June 1895; d. unknown; but I did find a person with this name dying in Gulf Breeze, Florida in 1984, but there were 20 known men with this name dying in USA with SS numbers.
viii. EDWIN/EDWARD-JOHN JACOBY, b. March 28, 1898, Village of Rudolph, Wood County, WI; lived as adult in Clintonville, WI, but his daughter, Beverly's birth cert. listed Eau Claire, WI, also; d. December 01, 1941, Theresa, Wisconsin, in the Kettle Moraine area; evidently, he did not have a SS number; no Edwins or Edwards listed with this birthdate as dying in WI; m. ANNA-MARIE/"NONNIE" MEYER, February 14, 1920, at a Catholic Church in New London, WI (we had family records suggesting: St. Rose's Church, Clintonville, WI, but that's not what certificate says); b. Bet. July 23, 1893 - July 24, 1894, Shawano, WI; note: her marriage cert says born in 1894; 1900 census says born in 1892; SSA says 7/23/1893.; d. March 1966, (last known residence:Milwaukee, Wisconsin)--data from Social Security administration, which is not necessarily correct.
ix. LOUIS JACOBY, b. April 15, 1901, assumed to be Wisconsin; d. February 1983, Rhinelander, WI, per Social Security indices--but I cannot prove this is the same man.
This is what we have so far on the first generation. If you are correct, and we are related, then we finally know how August got to America.
