Like your other message from Eric Volante (he and I are related) I have a rather large database on Jalbert. However, the spelling Jalbert was not used until the late 1700's.Some from Canada are Jalbert dit Carleton.some are Jalbert-Gilbert.My records go back to Louis Hebert the first official settler from France to Canada (Quebec).Louis traveled with Champlain to "New France" in 1606, 1609, and brought his family in 1614.
Our first of the Jalbert line is Jean Gerbert b. 1607 Nantes, Bretagne, France who married in 1632 to Perrine Pel ou Pellet from Nantes.Their son, Mathurin Gerbert dit LaFontaine b. 1630/31 St. Pierre, Nantes married Isabelle Elisabeth Targer b. 1640 St-Nicholas, La Rochelle, Aunis, FR, daughter of Daniel Targe(r) and Louise Martin.Louise' parents are Abraham Martin ca 1589 and Marguerite Langlois ca 1589.If there is a connection I can try and send a Gedcom file.
