Hi Michelle:I went back to your earlier posting (Oct 26) where you gave the father of Margarite Victoria Geneau/Janot dit Bergeron as Joseph (b. abt 1804), son of Joseph Jano & Margarite LaPensee (mother as Josette Guilmont).
Your earlier post said that Joseph married Josette Guilmont in 1839.This wouldn't be the same couple as my Joseph Jeannot & Genevieve LeBlanc, since they were having children from at least 1833 to 1853.
But now I'm confused.Margarite's grandparents, Joseph Bergeron & Margaret Closier-dit-LaPensee were married at Ste Madeleine de Rigaud in January 1815.They had a son Joseph baptised there in March 1815 (2 days old), which is way off from 1804 (although there WAS a tendency to exaggerate the ages of older people). Did the marriage of Joseph (b. 1804) to Josette Guilmont give his parents?
Another odd thing....I saw a marriage on line that I haven't been able to check out check. It said that Margaret Closier (or Clausier) dit LaPensee remarried in 1840 (to a Paul Pilon) at St Raphael's, Glengarry.IF this is correct (and it's really the same Margaret Closier-dit-LaPensee), then the Joseph Bergergon-dit-Janot she was married to would probably have been dead by then. But, like I said, I haven't checked it out yet.
Have you found any burial records for any of the women?Might help us straighten out the men.By my count now, between us we could have at least 5 or 6 possible difference Josephs (or as few as 3 or 4).
