Hi Craig, My great grandfather William Alexander McCook's first wife was Marsilla Wood, daughter of Lawrence Wood and Wealthy Ann Lavender. That is why I started researching the Lavender line and further on the Jarman line, trying to add more family ties and document what I was seeing and receiving from other researchers.
Yes, lots on Risdon McDaniel at rootsweb:)and I have corresponded with some of the posters of the info.
From one researcher I contacted, she had a copy of the will of Risdon McDaniel. This is what she told me: "Will of Risdon McDaniel was presented to the court term in June session, 1828.He first mentions his wife Rachael and daughter, Edney. Some of the Negroes he leaves them have the same names as some Rachael inherited from her father, William Jarman. Then he mentions four sons, John,David, Elijah and Benjamin.Further along, he mentions children Buckner, Charlotte Lavender and William McDaniel and grandchildren, Sarah and Thos. Busick.Just the way it is written made me think the older ones were two sets of children. As you can see, some were married and had children."
above info gave me that Rachael Jarman married Risdon McDaniel and that her father was William Jarman.
In other info I have received but not been able to document myself are court records for Rachel Jarman McDaniel. From those records it would seem that this Rachael is yes, the wife of Risdon McDaniel but Not the mother of Charlotte. Charlotte would most likely be from previous marriage of Risdon. But again I have nothing myself to document this info. and no other first/maiden names for a mother.
I do have a copy of the will and in it it lists daughter Charolette and husband Lewis Lavender.
I also have corresponded with a lady who has Levin Lavender's bible and in that bible it has Charlotte McDaniel married Levin Lavender. It is this Charlotte McDaniel Lavender and Levin Lavender that are the parents of my Wealthy Ann Lavender.Wealthy Ann Lavender married Lawrence Wood and one of their children was Marsilla Wood (many spellings for Marsilla but I use Marsilla because that is the spelling I found on the marriage certificate of my great grandfather William and Marsilla.)
So at this point I don't have the info on Rachel's birth or place of birth or even if it is the correct Rachael/Rachel. I am still trying to find documention and proof for all of this info.
If you come across anything that would help me with this research line, I would certainly appreciate any input:) Thanks and sorry I could not be of more help. Linda McCook
