My father used to tell us stories of our ancestors being descendants of a certain Crispulo Javier who was of Venezuelan ancestry. He had a brother and both of them embarked on a journey during the spanish era and headed to the east together. Their boat made a stopover to Hongkong, Crispulo's brother stayed there while he continued the journey and landed here in the Philippines. He lived in Balayan,Batangas and married a local maiden and had ten (10) children. When the children grew up and became adults, half of them travelled to Bulacan and established their families there. The other half stayed in Batangas, thus Batangas and Bulacan had a lot of Javiers' in that area. It is also well known to my family that the late LVN or Sampaguita star , Nita Javier, was a relative.
This story struck me more when I met another Javier who lives in Pilar Subdivision, Las Pinas. He had the same story told to him by his father and we found a common ancestor, Crispulo. The strange thing was, his family and my family used to meet together during reunions while we were young but we never got to know each other or remember seeing each other. He was actually a third cousin.
