I am afraid the only mention of these people I have seen is an earlier message of about 3 years ago which you posted here. The only two sugestions I might make is that, with a connection to Dutchess Co., you are probably looking at the family of Francis Jaycocks of Poughkeepsie, s/o David of Hempstead. Also, that 'Grippen' might be a mis-spelling of Griffen or Griffin. According to the IGI, there was a Jacob Jacok b. 26SEP1759, bpt. Zion Lutheran Church, Loonenburg, Greene Co., New York, s/o David and Greetje Jacok. This may be the Jacob Jacocks said to have been b. ca. 1765 Nine Partners, Dutchess Co., NY (but I thought Nine Partners was in Westchester Co.? Could be wrong.) This last is said to have m. Mary Thorne. The IGI has Sabrina Grippen as b. 7DEC1779 in Crippentown, Dutchess Co., NY as the d/o Jabez and Abigail (Gilbert) Grippen. However, message # 2234 at the GenForum Griffin board reads:
Looking for info. on Judith GRIFFEN b. abt.1723 married Col. David SUTHERLAND in Bangal, Dutchess Co., NY abt. 1743. Her father may have been Obediah GRIFFEN who is listed on tax records in Dutchess Co. in the 1740s. Other GRIFFEN names that appear on early records in the same area are Joseph, Michael, Jacob and Jabez.
Which indicates that there was a Jabez Griffen in the area at the time. Abigail Gilbert's husband is also given as Jabez Crippen. She is said to have been b. Bolton, Connecticut 14AUG1748, d. Canaan, NY 4FEB1809, and to have been the d/o Elisha and Hannah (Adams) Gilbert, or of Samuel and Mercy (Warner) Gilbert. Her husband, Jabez or Jabesh Crippen, is said to have been b. Sharon, Litchfield Co., CT 17MAY1741 and d. Canaan, NY 1805, and to have been the s/o Jabez and Lydia (Chamberlain) Crippen. Jabez and Abigail are said to have had a son, Jesse Grippen b. Columbia, NY 25MAR1778, d. Annisville, Oneida Co., NY 1798.
