Samuel Jefcoat and Bridget the ? Creek Indian
Hello - I am looking into the South Carolina Jefoats/Jeffcoats, and specifically into Samuel Jefcoat (b. abt 1770) who married Bridget. There are lots of people who claim she is Native American.
My wife, her descendant, took an anthropology class in which she learned about different shapes of teeth, and her teeth it turn out are quite specific for Native American teeth. She is very Anglo, and everyone in her family is as well... except perhaps Bridget.
I can find next to no source information for her, exceping she was born around 1775 in South Carolina, based on some census records.Does anyone actually have any good sources for this person?Could she be where my wife got her teeth?
The information I have found on various websites seems speculative, is poorly sourced, and largely contradictory and I don't trust any of it.
I am saving up for a DNA test, which may shed some light on the situation...
