I am interested in the following Jewitt familyliving at Kirkhamgate, Wakefield during the 1841 Census. Details of the family, who were all born in the county, are as follows (Piece No HO107/1271/3, Folio No 53, Page No 14):
John Jewitt, age 35, carpenter
Ann Jewitt, age 35
Mark Jewitt, age 15, labourer
Ralph Jewitt, age 15, labourer
William Jewitt, age 14, labourer
Hannah Jewitt, age 12
George Jewitt, age 11
Mary Jewitt, age 5
John Jewitt, age 4
Louis Jewitt, age 2
James Walker, age 20, ------- ? Worker
According to the IGI, a matching Jewitt family may have been living in the East Ardsley area of Yorkshire before the 1841 Census. East Ardsley is only a few miles north of Kirkhamgate. The details are as follows (note - differing spellings of Jewitt):
William Walker Jewitt, christened 7 Jan 1827, East Ardsley. Parents John and Ann Jewitt. He possibly died in 1850 (PRO entry March Quarter, Wakefield, 22 501).
Hannah Jewit, christened 5 April 1829, East Ardsley. Parents John and Ann Jewit. Sheis probably the one who married Samuel Firth in 1848 (PRO entry June Quarter, Wakefield, 22 369).
Mary Jewit, christened 5 April 1829, East Ardsley, Parents John and Ann Jewit. Possibly a twin of Hannah who probably died before 1834.
Mary Jewett, christened 2 March 1834, East Ardsley. Parents John and Ann Jewett. Probably married in 1852, husband either Samuel Beacher or Samuel Mitchell (PRO entry December Quarter, Wakefield, 9c 33).
George Jewitt, christened 1 May 1831, East Ardsley. Parents John and Ann Jewitt. Possibly died in Wakefield in 1852 (PRO entry June quarter, 9c 20).
John Jewett, christened 9 October 1836, East Ardesly. Parents John and Ann Jewett
Lewis Jewett, christened 21 April 1839, East Ardsley. Parents John and Ann Jewett
I would appreciate any information on this Jewitt family/families, especially information on Hannah Jewitt
