Hi Everyone. Thought I'd add my two cents worth. Maybe it'll help. Johnisee is one of the branches of my family tree that has given me fits and even though I haven't worked at genealogy for some time, I'll tell you what I have. My great, great grandmother was Lydia Jaynes, born in 1864 in Jerseyville, Illinois. Her father was John Jaynes, born somewhere in Ohio in 1829. Her mother was Harriett E. Johnisee, born in Fieldon, Jersey County, Illinois in 1830. I suspect the Jaynes name goes back toward New York City in the late 1700's but haven't confirmed that yet. Harriett's mother was Francina Husbands, born in Rowan County, NC around 1810 and I suspect Francina's parents were Harmon Husbands and Sarah Renshaw who were married in Rowan County on August 7th, 1804. Harriett's father was John Johnisee who married Francina in Rowan County on June 26th, 1814. That's all I have on the Johnisees right now though I'd love to learn more. Hope this helps someone.
