We wanted to share with the descendants of Mary War Nan JOHNSON Laster, that M. Lynn Laster, T.R. Linn and T.R. Linn-Galbraith have written a book on Mary and her husband, Elias Laster.
The first section of the book concentrates on the Laster family line (please note that it is not all inclusive back to the start of the Laster line in America but does include some information on the early Laster's).It is an update of the family chronicle that Lynn Laster wrote in 1993 and concentrates mostly on Elias Laster and his and Mary's children and includes their descendants (we are not including living descendants for security reasons but the book does include up to four generations of Elias and Mary Laster's descendants).
The second section of the book concentrates on the Louisiana ancestors of Mary War Nan Johnson/Jeansonne - ancestors which we were previously unaware of but through over 3 1/2 years of research, have identified. This is through Mary's mother's Steen family line and goes back three generations from Mary for the Steen family and six generations on her Stelly family connections. The book covers as much of Mary's ancestry as we were able to locate.
The book includes some family stories, scanned copies of old maps, documents, pictures, and brief histories on both Mary's ancestors and some of her descendants. The book is written, but not yet published. We hope to have it edited and published by August or September of 2012.It will be a paper-back book, 8 1/2" x 11" and will include color photographs (most of the colored pages are of old maps).
If you are interested in the book, which will be about 240 pages, please contact me through GenForum and put BOOK in the subject line. The cost will be about $25 plus shipping and handling (actual shipping cost). If you know of anyone else that may also be interested in purchasing a copy of the book, please share this information with them. There will be a limited one-time only publishing of this book due to cost.
Please note that none of us are experienced writers - this was written as a family genealogy book to share with our family, but we thought other descendants of Elias and Mary Laster might be interested in purchasing our book. We think the book turned out much better than originally hoped for. You may want to look at our Linn-Beebe tree on Ancestry.com to see the type of research that we do and can make your own determination as to whether the book would be worth buying (but we definitely think so!).
