My great-grandfather Delphis Jolie was born in Canada around 1870. He married Mary Novak/Novack and lived in Ottawa, Canada where he had several siblings including Nelson, Joe, Hilaire, Marianna and Delphine. He was a talented wood craftsman who made fancy trim for houses. He played the fiddle, danced and called square dances. In the winter he and his brothers would go deep in the woods to work as loggers. My grandmother said that he probably met with foul play while returning to his family with a large paycheck around Christmas 1903, but the dates and some circumstances do not match. I have a hunch he lived for several more years, possibly raising another family. If you have any information to shed light on this family mystery, please contact me.
