James Luther Jolliff Jr., 77, formerly of the 100 block of Shore Drive, died Oct. 5, 2006. He was born March 17, 1929, in Portsmouth, to the late James L. and Thelma Anderson Jolliff. He was also predeceased by his first wife, Anne Wilby Jolliff; a stepson, Chuck Harrison; and two sisters, Mae Jolliff Mays and Dorothy Trammell Barnes. He retired from Virginia Chemicals as a buyer after many years of service. He was a member of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church and was a U.S. Army veteran. Jimmy was proud of the fact that the new Jolliff Middle School in Chesapeake was named after his family. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Dorothy Harrison Jolliff; three daughters, Jamie J. Everett and husband Bert of Virginia Beach, Betsy Mazzone of Chesapeake and Katherine J. Abraham of Baltimore, Md.; a stepdaughter, Pam Neal and husband Page of Yorktown, Va.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. Penny Cory. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m.
