I originally got the "Figueiredo" name from an article on CBC Radio One (Maritime Noon) that was later posted on the internet. The article was titled "Creating New Surnames in the Maritimes", it was written by a local Genealogist named Terry Punch I think. If you "google" the name "Josey+Eastern shore" you might be able to find it. I found the name Emmanuel "Figuerhead" in an 1827 census of Pope's Harbour, NS and figured that this must have been the Figueiredo since the first Josey was supposed to be in this area at that time. I do not believe that he had any other wives, but I have heard that he had a brother that may have moved to Prince Edward Island? Not really sure though.
