Morgan AL Junkins
I need some help with a family of Junkins who lived in Morgan co. AL at the time of the 1860 census. In 1857 my ggggrandfather William Bodery married a widow named Mary Jane Junkins (b.1832 VA, d.1863 AL)) who had three children by her first marriage:William (b.1852) Henrietta (b.1854) and Joseph (b.1855), all born in AL.
Although the 1860 census gives Mary Jane's birthplace as VA, her son A.J. Bodery in 1880 reported her birthplace as TN so there may have been a Tennessee connection too.
William and Mary Jane had two more children, one of whom was my great-grandmother.I would like to trace Mary Jane's background but I would need to find some kind of record of her first marriage in order to get a maiden name I can work with.
Does anyone here know of a Junkins who might have been this woman's first husband?
Possible connection of this family to William Henry Junkins, which might account for the names of the two older Junkins children?
Please help.
