It's sad for me to see that so many of us do not know the origin of our family's heritage and history.I am in my 40's and all of my life I have been trying to find the origin of our name and heritage.
I was born in Mayaguez, PR and my deceased father's name was Sixto Jusino (from Lajas).I too have been told that the Jusino name came from Corsica(may have been spelled Giusino).
Regrettably, there is no written record to substantiate these oral histories.Where is the written documentation to support this theory? Why is this family's history so difficult to find?I know my father's family came from Lajas, PR but I do not have contact with any of them because what little I know, I have had to find out on my own; and it's difficult to walk up to a stranger's house and say "hi, I think we're related but I don't know how".
Sure, I have seen the large numbers of Jusinos in phone books all over the island as well as the states, but I can't just show up at someone's door and say "hola familia" without knowing exactly where and how we may be related.
Call me old-fashioned but unless I know how I'm related to you, I will keep my distance in order to avoid having a restraining order set in place despite my wholesome intentions.
Anyhow, if any of you are aware of any family linkages and you would like to share them with me, please feel free to email me firstname.lastname@example.org
I reside in Maryland and I do know of several bonafide(meaning I know how we are related) relatives currently residing in NY, MA, CT, CA, NC and of course PR.
My father Sixto Jusino (son of Emilio Jusino and Carmen Alomodovar)had several brothers and sisters and although I do not know all of their names, one of them was named Jose, another Emilio, another named Humberto (lived and died in Mayaguez)a sister Hipolita (known as Pola), another sister named Nery.
I would love to find out the lifelong mystery behind our unusual surname.I wish all of you the very best of health, happiness and good fortune.Above all, I wish you luck and perseverance in determining the origin of this unbelievable mystery.I bet if our name was Smith, we'd know everything there is to know about such a boring name.
