I don't know if this thread is still active but I've come upon it in a rather round about way. I am a decendant of Aart van Zanten who was Petronella van Zanten's grandfather. Two of Petronella's uncle's children also immigrated to the US and amazingly enough, also ended up in Minneapolis. I am curious as to whether or not they knew each other (I've been told by various relatives that the Dutch community in Minneapolis was very close knit) and whether or not they knew of the relationship.
The two siblings that came to the US were Pieter van Zanten and Cornelia van Zanten (who married Wynand Bakker). They ended up in Minneapolis in about 1909 after a short stay in Canada. Pieter, my great grandfather, had four children: Bessel (also spelled Basil) Pieter, Gertrude, and Margaret who all lived in Minneapolis until the 40s when my grandfather (Pieter) moved away. The others stayed on for as long as they were able to (in the case of Bessel, that was until he died in the 1990s)
Anyways, just wondering if anyone on this list knew of a connection there or had any information about Petronella's family, particularly in the Netherlands.
