Here's Ferdinand. He's says going to join his cousin Josef Kroupa in Hartford Conn.

The one thing that troubles me about this family is that Ferdinand says he is Bohemian and his cousin's name,Kroupa, is a Bohemian spelling. That is not a problem if you know they were Slovaks. As I said, people and names travel. VYSOKA,the place they come from, could be one of two different places. One is in S'aris' County up near the Polish border and one is in Hont County down near the Hungarian border. You can riffle thru' the Ellis Is. site by signing up. It's free. http://www.ellisisland.org/default.asphttp://www.ellisisland.org/default.asp You do not need to use the EI search engine. It's much too limited. Everyone uses this.It works like magic. http://www.jewishgen.org/databases/EIDB/ellis.htmlhttp://www.jewishgen.org/databases/EIDB/ellis.html What you need to find is the ship manifest for a Ligac relative who, hopefully, comes from a nearby village. Once you have that you'll know which Vysoka is the ol' home town. One more thing. The "Slovak Garden" was a retirement place and meeting spot in Winter Park FL.Don't know if it's still there. If your family was an associate there they may be able to help you.
