I am looking for surviving members of the family of Fritz Karch, b. 17 Jan 1920 in Munich, Germany.
Mr. Karch was a fighter pilot with 6/JG2 during WW-II and survived the war.He assumed command of II. Gruppe in February 1945, and was awarded the Knights Cross in April 1945.
Mr. Karch flew Bf109 and Fw190 aircraft in Tunisia and France during WW-II.My interest in Mr. Karch is to document his career for a research project concerning my father's WW-II assignment with the U.S. 8th Air Force Bomber Command in 1943.Based on existing military records, it appears Ltn. Karch shot down my father's B-17 bomber in July 1943, over France.
Mr. Karch passed away on 30 Dec 2001 at Beyreuth, Bavaria.I should like to request that anyone with access to his obituary please forward it to me, either in English or German. If anyone should have contact information for his family, I would be grateful for the information.
