I am seeking the wife of my ancestor, Isaac Calvert (Colbert, sic). He married Elizabeth Gart in the church record in 1868. This name is no where else in the area which could be MD, DE, PA. In fact the 3 lower counties of DE are formed from the mason-dixon dispute.
Point being is, the surname of Elizabeth may be a contraction, error, anglicization, etc. Isaac could be Isaac Calvert from Chester Co PA, Isaac Calvert(s) of Somerset Co MD or in some DE county from north DE .etc.
A news article in 1881 John D Calvert(b1804), Grandson of Isaac(b1742-1750) indicates that his great grandmother came on a German vessel to the Colonies. While one grandmother may be a Bulet or Bullock (various spellings), it is possible she was Karg or Cart, and had a daughter by that name who married Isaac.
Can anyone lend a hand here? Holy Trinity in DE is essentially near Philly and the NE counties of MD...and MD Eastern Shore.
The known children of Isaac are: Thomas b 1769, Isaac Jr b 1772(?), Robert born 1774, Ezekiel b 1777, Sarah Hannah b 1785 and then Elizabeth, Margaret and Mary with William the Youngest son b 1791/2. There may be two more sons, John B 1777 and Francis b 1780 plus two females who remain unfound. THe family mayhave migrated from MD or Eastern PA(possibly DE) to Western VA/PA...the descendents migrate west from there.
Does anyone have an inkling of a Calvert marriage of an Elizabeth to an ISaac?
