Carole,
I'm working with my father's cousin to put together a better picture of the Karp family history. We recently found Abe's headstone at Agudas Achim cemetery in San Antonio, TX. Can you tell me where Julia Gurinsky Karp is buried? She lived with her uncle, Harry Gurinsky, in Gonzales, TX before she married Abe, but the 1900 census indicated that she was born in NY. Do you know why she moved to Texas?

Abe died while the girls, Beatrice and Gladys, were still young. Do you know what he died of? His brother Wolff's wife (Emily) died around the same time. She contracted influenza during the pandemic after WWI and never fully recovered. TB killed her and one daughter in the early 20's.

I have pictures of Wolff, Max and several other members of the family. i'd love to identify some of those and feel certain that at least one must be of Abe. One might also be of their mother; I do have her funeral card from 1903.

Census and other records indicate that Max married a woman listed as Mamie (or Mammie or Marine) Raffee from Finland. They had 3 children: Sylvan (1906), Gertrude (1904), and Ethel (1908) while in Texas. They lived in Duval County in 1910, but moved to California sometime after that. The 1920 census shows them in Santa Ana, CA and the 1930 census lists Max, Marine, Sylvan and Ethel in Los Angeles. I believe Ethel married someone named Schneider and Gertrude married a Rosen. No more information on Sylvan.

Can you - or anyone else -add any more information?
