Hello - I'm looking for any information on my GGgrandfather. His name is Joseph KASPER b. 1845 in Alsace Germany/France. Married Caroline FORMAN b. 1849.
Information from my grandmother was the Joseph was a captain in the French Army. He left France in November 1875 with his wife Caroline FORMAN and sailed to America. Arrived in New York in December 1875. (I have the original Declaration of Intention paper from Kent Co., Michigan.)
The story is that they had a girl that was born on the ship. She married and lived in Ohio, but I don't know her name.
Children of Joseph and Caroline that I know of are:
Joseph Jr. b. 1872 d. 1946 Married in 1912 to Blanche (last name unknown) Lived in Grand Rapids, Michigan Their children were: Dorothy b. 11/6/1914, Carl or Earl, Gladys, Lorraine, Marvin, Melvin, Voilet and another boy.
George b. 1874 Married Pansy (last name unknown) Lived in Grand Rapids, Michigan Their children were: Ralph b. 1900, Carleton b. 1904, Bythe b. 1906, Ivan b. 1910 and Robert b. 1913. Robert married Betty and was a mailman in Grand Rapids, Michigan for 30 years.
Frederick John b. October 20, 1887 d. December 13, 1976 Married on June 2, 1915 to Bernice Edna CRANSON b. October 3, 1887 d. May 1, 1948 Their children were: Floyd George b. February 22, 1916, Ada Louise b. August 8, 1919 (My grandmother-still living), and Kenneth Raymond b. October 5, 1922 (still living).
My grandmother told me that Caroline (Forman) KASPER's second husband was Anton Bittel b. 1846
