Paula, I attended a DNA session presented by Megan Smolenyak Smolenyak several weeks ago in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She was recently honored by President Obama for her genealogy work. My next genealogical expense will be to get a Y-DNA test done to try to put to rest the confusion in our family over whether the name should be Kasprzyk or Kasprzak. It would probably be a 67 marker test. There are dozens of companies willing to do these tests but you will want to pick one that is expected to be around for a while. Try this site www.isogg.org/wiki/List_of_DNA_testing_companies for list/links If you have already picked a company and it was one of the top six, I would be curious to know which one so I would use the same one. So far I have considered Family Tree DNA and DNAAncestry.
