Paul Kaye was a son of John Kaye, clothier of Holme.
There was what appears to have been a long family of children of John Kaye.Assuming that this was indeed a single family the children were:
08/06/1735 Hannah 04/12/1736 James 10/12/1738 John 28/09/1740 David 30/04/1743 Catherine 23/05/1745 Joseph 21/06/1747 Mary 14/06/1749 Lucy 24/08/1751 Thomas 12/01/1754 Paul 03/07/1756 Margaret
All dates are baptismal dates.
Although the marriage of John Kay to Lydia Whitehead of Holme fits well with the baptism of the first child Lydia would have been 44 when the last was born. It's possible that Lydia may have died and John remarried. This possibility remains to be investigated.
I don't as yet have any information about John's origins. The Kaye family goes back a long way in local parishes and Kayes were living in Holme in the C17th but there is a gap, at least as far as the parish records go, for some decades before they reappear in the C18th although there does seem to have been under-recording in Almondbury parish.
