My name was Keane before i married, I have three children aged 5, 10 and 12. I have traced their heritage, the Wickens, right back to 1700.I have found it great fun doing this. I am luck that the Wickens family all came from Sussex where we live so i didnt have to travel to far for the records office.I am now working on the KEANES. This will not be so easy as they came from Ireland, and i have very little info to start with. This is what i know. Thomas Keane & Elizabeth Shannon married about 1870. Dublin area Ireland. Children Margaret, Mae, Nicholas( My grand Father ),Jack,Elizabeth, adopted son called Johnny Shannon. All born Kingstown. Moved to Plymouth Devon some time in the late 1800's.Thomas was a Carpenter/boat builder.Nicholas KEANE, My grand Father was born about 1880 and died in 1936 in Scotland. My Dad was only 16 when his Father died and that is why we have so little info on the family.Have you tried the I G I web site? you can search the 1881 census online. This would help you. Good luck George.Best wishes Susan WICKENS. Brighton Sussex.
