Here is the information I posted on the Lewis board on Stephen Simpkins.
"Here are some thoughts for future researchers of Dora Dovey Lewis, wife of Joseph Coats. I think, but don't have any proof, that Dovey Lewis (b. 1828-1832?) fits into the Lewis family of Willoughby, Isaac, and Jacob that were in Greene County, Indiana, as early as 1818 according to the Greene County History. I'm not sure they were there that early. I believe that the Isaac Lewis in the Platte County, MO, 1840 census, is the Isaac found in the 1830 Greene County, Indiana census.
1. Joseph and Dovey have son, John Willoughby Coats.
2. Dora "Dovey" Lewis, b. 1814 TN, married Stephen Simpkins, Greene County, IN, is probably a sister to Isaac.
3. 1830 Greene County IN census: Isaac, 1800-1820; 1 female 1800-1820, 1 female 1815-1825, 2 females 1820-1825, 2 females 1825-1830 (Hannah and ?). 1840 Platte Co, MO census: Isaac 1790-1800, 1 male 1830-35 (Charles); 1 female 1790-1800 (Sarah?), 1 female 1815-1825, 2 females 1820-25, 1 female 1825-30 (Hannah), 2 females 1830-35, 2 females 1835-1840 (Sarah and Mary). 1850 Ozark County, MO census: Isaac (1796 VA), Sarah (1799 TN), Charles (1833 IL), Sarah (1836 MO), Mary (1837 MO)."
