Re: Keelty family
I can't believe you are all out there. We have come across so few Keeltys over the years. Now, having begun my search, I discover that we are all over the place. I am trying to add to the work already done by my uncle and his cousin. So far we are back to my great grandfather John Lamont Keelty and his mother Rosie. Unfortunately it would appear that Rosie didn't marry, so we have hit the proverbial brick wall. I wonder if any of you may be able to help me at some point through your own research?
Details as follows:-
The two people above were from the Broughshane area, by Ballymena, Co. Antrim, N. Ireland.
John Lamont Keelty:- Born 29 May 1872. baptised 23 June 1872 in the chuch of St. Patrick, parish of Skerry and Rathcavan, Co. Antrim. Abode - Racavan. (Page 41, No. 269)
He married Jane Colhoun (poss' Colquhoun) Oct 27th 1894 (residing Roughan). Although we have a diff' date on other paperwork.
Shortly after their marriage the couple moved to Glasgow and produced five children. We have all details from there on in. But, obviously, we would like to go farther back.
Although I haven't been able to add anything to this work
so far, the information I am rapidly gathering on the surname itself is absolutely fascinating. Including what I have gleaned from your own messages. I look forward to hearing from you whether you are able to assist specifically or otherwise.
Wishing you all the best.
Liz Rogers (nee Keelty)
