Hello, all.I am new discoverer of my Keene ancestry as well. However, others of my family are connected to some of the lines they married into which was a surprise.I am interested in the gleanings from England and if Thomas Keene of Virginia has been linked in any way to the Gosnolds.
I descend from Edgecombe Marriott of Brunswick Co., VA, Roane Co., TN and finally Morgan Co., MO.His great granddaughter Sarah Rains Webb of Izard Co., Ark. was my gr-gr grandmother on my mother's side.Edgecomb Marriott was the grandson of Edgecomb Suggett,Jr and Constance Edmundson.Edgecomb Suggett, Jr. was the son of Edgecomb Suggett, Sr. and Elizabeth Keene of Northumberland Co., VA, daughter of John Keene and Elizabeth Oliver, son of William Keene and Elizabeth Rogers, son of Thomas Keene, our subject and his wife Mary (Thorley?).
My John Keene's sister Sarah Keene married Capt. William Woodbridge of Northumberland Co., VA.Capt. Woodbridge's sister Elizabeth Woodbridge who married Manus McLaughlin is another ancestor of my mother.
John Keene's aunt, Susanna Keene married John Garner and their descendant Gilford Garner of Georgia to Dallas Co., Ark. where my father's family is from.Gilford's daughter Lucinda Garner married William T. Barker and became the great grandparents of Leonard Barker who married my grandmother Laura Mae Smith Riggan's sister Bertha Barker! Also, Gilford's sons Elisha and Joseph Garner would marry my grandmother's great-aunts Julia and Sarah Smith.Julia married Joseph and Sarah married Elisha. When Julia died, her oldest sister Mollie Smith married Joseph.
I also noticed, Cynthia, that you referred to William Farrar and the Garners. My grandmother Laura Mae Smith Riggan was the great granddaughter of Jane Farrar Moore Smith of Person Co., NC to Dallas Co., Ark.Jane was a descendant of Col. William Farrar who immigrated to Virginia from England in the 1600's.Her line is well-documented back into medieval England.I don't know what your interest was in the Farrars or the connection, but I might have information that will help there.
