Hi Lorraine
The 1901 Census has been put on line by the Public Records Office (PRO) at www.census.pro.gov.uk as of Wed 2nd Jan 2002.
It is currently offline since it was totally swamped with folk trying to login and they are upgrading it to, hopefully, cope.Apparently it is supposed to go back on line middle of next week sometime.
If you have a credit card, it is relatively straight-forward (and secure) to setup an account. The charges are quite nominal - eg 75p to download an actual page of the census. It is free to search the indexes.
I will be trying to get online myself to do my own business so I am quite happy to look for your Charles Keep.(I will be looking for my Grandfather's family and, hence, my own Charles Keep!).I think I can handle the 75p if a find a suitable candidate :-)
Maybe we could just try that first and see how we get on?Otherwise it could be a bit of a needle in a haystack as far as the Keeps in Reading go.
Another bit of information that would be useful is your parent's marriage certificate.I can't remember if you said that they got married in India or not.But anyway, in the UK marriage certificates will have your parents ages (or "full age") the names of their father. This will be useful in narrowing down the 1901 census search.

Bye for now
Debbie
P.S.To get to the White Pages just go to the British Telecom site at www.bt.co.uk
