Michael: I finally found the information some of my family has compiled. My father was Cecil Leon. His father was John Franklin whose father was James Justice(Dick). And his father was John Monroe(Roe)b1825 whose wife was Nancy Roberts. He was also called "Paddy". They also had a son named Thomas Belvile who was married to Nancy Ann. Thomas was born in 1873. Paddy's father was James b1807 who married Elizabeth Justice. When Elizabeth died he married Elizabeth Porter on 8-5-1849 in Rutherford County, NC. Their son was Samuel Sidney. James's father was John who was the son of James whose wife was Lucy. Another son of James and Lucy was James who married Katy Stringfield in 1799.
So it looks like to me there might be a question of whether it is James M.(Paddy) or John M.(Monroe,Roe, Paddy) who would be my great, great grandfather and also your ancestor. I would bet it's the same person.
I was talking with my uncle and he said his grandfather was Roe and he thinks Roe had a brother called "Hard".
Tomorrow is our annual family reunion. Perhaps someday our families will get acquainted. I hope to hear from you on this. Thanks, L. Phil Keeter.
