Hi Jen, I am so excited that you wrote back & that we have these relatives in common!!! Your mother must be Sylvia Faye Bailey Hull. Your grandfather John Sherman & my ggrandfather David Clark were brothers. I have verified info on the descendants of John Keeter & Emiley Smith(?)is the way I have it. Some papers (copies) I have were prepared by your mother in 1973 by hand. As far as ancestors,I found a whole slew of John Keeters (18 with different middle names)from N.C. & some moved to Marion Co., Ark. but as far as I can tell they do not match up with the one I'm looking for either. The closest one John Calvin dob 3/11/1825 dod 7/15/1906 est marriage 1846-1876. wife's name:Louisa Emaline Moore dob 3/10/1833 dod 3/8/1913& they had a daughter named Eliza est. dob 1856. Have several other children & his parents names were James Keeter & Elizabeth Flack. I wish it were the right ones because that would mean we have an entire family tree dating pretty far back. These people are posted on the World Family Tree Project. Is that the file Fred Keeter sent to you? Do you have the Family Treemaker Software? Alot of info I have is also from the 1900 Census Records. Please keep in touch with me so we can compare notes& maybe one day we will hit the motherlode on this family. On another branch on dad's side I found names all the way back to the mid 1600's. Also, I have a diary from 1904-1907 that mentions our grandparents frequently. And a page from a History of Walker County, Ga. 1800's that tells about John Clark Bailey (John Sherman & David Clark's dad) & their mom Catherine Sills & how they lived near the Chickamagua Battlefield---their home was raided by Union Soldiers. After the Civil War ended---they moved by oxcart & ended up in Searcy Co., Ark. It also has a picture of their sister, Martha, whose black mare was stolen. One more thing, I am going to Arkansas in May for the "Ancestor Swap" at Marshall & Leslie, Searcy Co. & hope to find out alot more info. I do have a CD published by the Genealogical Society of Searcy County that has more than 200 pics from the early 1900's. They have 800+ more pictures they hope to publish soon. The CD's are expensive:$25 but it is interesting to see what things looked like when our grandparents were living there. Is your mother still living? I found a listing for an S. Hull on Anywho.com in Visalia, Ca. but got no answer when I tried to call. Thought maybe she might know more since she was the compiler of the info I have. Keep in touch, this is so much fun!!! By the way my e-mail is: email@example.com if you would like to write direct. My name is Charlotte Lynn Harris Beadles & I live near Atlanta,Ga. I have a Web page of family info online, type: familytreemaker.genealogy.com/users/b/e/a/Charlotte-L-Beadles & you may find something helpful. Thanks!
