It looks like Isabel came thru Ellis Island in 1906 and again in 1913; the first time she was alone and going to join her husband in Hamilton, the second time she was with her two girls. It’s quite possible that they were just visiting in 1906 and didn’t take up permanent residence until 1913 as Isabel’s Ellis Island notes show her as a Non-Immigrant Alien in 1906.The information on John’s death entry was given by his executor who, by the look of it, was not his wife. This information could well have come from his wife who, herself, had been in Canada for 40 years, and who possibly forgot to mention that her husband had been there longer. It’s possible that there is an Ellis Island entry for John too, around 1906, but with the surname transcribed unrecognizably wrong.
