I have been trying to find out who you are for some time now.You are listed on our Kier Family Genealogy Forum and I didn't know how you were listed (what your relationship was to us)in it.Now I know!!!We have another relative named "Sharon",too.I thought she might have been you, but she wasn't.
I get on our Kier Family Genealogy Forum on the Internet, occasionally during the evening hours and see who I can find in our Family Line.
I see that you are related to Andrew and Mary Mathis Kier, who settled in Philadelphia, Pennsylvannia. They came to Philadelphia, Pa in 1785 with their 5 Children named David Kier (2), Jane (Jean)Kier (2), William Kier (2), Thomas Kier (2), and James Kier (2).This is how our Kier Family grew from the very beginning.
Guess what, it is a "small world", indeed, so am I!!!
My Mother, Rosamond (Rose)Alberta KIER-Bolter is the 5th Generation of Andrew and Mary Kier.I, Shirley Helen Bolter-Baker,am the 6th Generation of Andrew and Mary. I am 71 yrs old and I live in Long Beach, California.
You have said in your 2/18/2002 e-mail at 14:24:46 e-mail to Kaye Haughee, that you are trying to find the origin of the KIER Family.
I thought you would like to know that I have a 400+Page Genealogy Book called: "Andrew Kier Family History",compiled with all kinds of information on Andrew and Mary, from the year of 1785 through 1978.
It has many many Pictures and General information in it, and tells many many things about our Kier Ancestors, as well.
It was started years ago by our relative named Gordon Kier and when he passed away in 1984, my 2nd Cousin Paul E. Kier picked it up and finished it.It originated from the names of Keir, Keer, Kear, Ceer ,Cear, Caer, and Kiers.
Yes, I have rec'd information on the Clan Kerr, also.I rec'd it from a relative of mine and it is in one of my many Notebooks. I am "very Proud" of our Ancestory.
I would have to re-check and see if it associated with the Clan MacIntosh/or Clan MacGregors.
I have found many of our relatives in the last 2 years and I have found 6 or so more, just in the past 2 months, through our Kier Family Genealogy Forum, by me posting Message Boards on it, as I am now doing with you.
I also found a relative through a Website that I belong on, from the State of Iowa, where I was born.
It has "really been exciting" to have found them.We have relatives all over this United States and it has been quite a "thrill" to do so.
If you would be interested in purchasing a Copy of my Genealogy Book, feel free to contact me at Bolterbaker5330@aol.com and I will return your e-mail on how to go about purchasing a copy of it.
I see that there is another Line of the Keir Family, which I have heard of before, but hadn't found anything on it until tonight.I would like to exchange information with them, if they would like to do so.I think Genealogy is "quite exciting" and fun to get into.
Our Ancestory goes back a long way.My 2nd Cousin says that he believes that we came from way back in the 1600's, when our Kier-Keir Family came from Scotland, to Northern Ireland.Even possibly as far back as the 1200's.
Take care, write soon, Shirley
