I am a descendent of Michael and Elizabeth Stapleton Kelchner, who left PA c1752 and settled in the Northern Neck of VA. Recently was contacted by a descendent of Michael and Elizabeth Roth Kelchner line that left PA and migrated across OH, IN and settled in northern IL.I do not believe as some others do, that Michael(E. Stapleton)was the father of Michael(E. Roth). It is interesting to note that both Kelchner lines name changed to Keltner. In looking, the research on the assumed Kelchner brothers of Hans Georg, Matthias, Michael and Henry, appears to have made little progress in many years on defining the descendents of each brother except Michael.
Anyone have answers, suggestions or comments on the following questions?
1.Exactly when did he come to PA?He is not listed in the book THIRTY THOUSAND NAMES OF IMMIGRANTS IN PENNSYLVANIA1727-1776 by Rupp. The book lists all of the males, both above 16 years of age and below 16 on the PA Merchant 9/11/1731, when Hans Georg immigrated. No Matthias Kelchner listed. Can we narrow down the years as to when he was in PA?
2.How many children did Matthias have and what was his wife's name? From various sources Matthias had sons Henry (died before 1761 PA), John Michael (married Eva Frey and died c1761 PA) and George (named in probate as a son).Which Georg Kelchner was the son?
Hans George -
1.Would someone list the children named in his will? And also their spouses to delineate them from simliarly named Kelchners? 2.What was Hans Georg's wife's name?
1.Is there anything known about him or his family?Rupp does not list him but thought years ago that I saw his name on a ship's mast from Germany.Rupp does list an Adam Keltinger on the same ship, Patience, along with George, Hans George and Ludwig Lindemuth in 9/19,1749.My Michael Kelchner's son, Henry, married Maria Barbara Lindamood (Lindemuth), a daughter of one of the above Lindemuth males.
Maybe with many researchers working together from different angles and lines, the PA Kelchners can be sorted out?Comments most welcomed and appreciated.
