I'm pretty sure it was James MADISON Kelly as he had a grandson by that name with no other Madisons in evidence.James M. just disappeared before the 1850 census leaving his wife Anna with the children. Then just before war broke out in earnest Anna and the children moved to Arkansas and then to MO.She returned to Marion county either before she died in 1875, or perhaps she was transported posthumous. She and a son and a daughter are buried in the Ross Ellis Cemetery near Battle Creek in Marion County, TN. Her headstone says,"Anna Kelly 8-28-1875Wife of J.M. Kelly, aged 67 years." This would put her birth in 1808.She was probably born about 1805 based on census records.
Children of James and Anna are: John 1828, Riley A. 1831, Rachel Amanda 1833, George Washington 1838 and William 1840.
Anna Homes/Holmes Cunningham was the daughter of John Cunningham and Ellie Henderson. Her siblings include: The headstone says,"Anna Kelly 8-28-1875Wife of J.M. Kelly, aged 67 years." This would put her birth in 1808.She was probably born about 1805 based on census records.
Anna's siblings are: Elizabeth Elis Cunningham 1802, Riley Alexander C. 1805, John Davidson C. 1810, Pleasant Henderson C. 1813, Rachel Montgomery C. 1816, Unity Hollie C. 1819.
