My information on John Kelty comes from a journal written by his daughter Elizabeth at the request of one of her nephews. The journal is on file at the state archives in Albany, NY.
The story according to "Aunt Betsy"'s journal:
John Kelty, at age 17, came to Pennsylvania from County Cork, Irleland.I have no information on his early life. He served in the Revolution, including at Valley Forge.In 1780 he married Margaret Conner, daughter of Bryan Conner and Jane King in Hanover, Morris Co. NY.In 1887 they moved to Morrisiana, West Farms, NJ to run a farm belonging to Gouvenour Morris.In 1808 to Utica, Onida Co, NY and finally to Peterboro, Madison Co. NY, where he worked in a glass factory.

Samuel b. 1782, lived one year.
Jane b. 1784 m. David Gray in 1803
Bryan Conner b. 1787 m. Margaret Williams in 1807
Owen b. 1789 m. Fanny Lay in 1869.Their son Harvy Beach Kelty settled in New Orleans.
