MRS. JOHN KEMMER JUNE 12, 1896
On Tuesday, June 9, at the home of her son, John, south of town, occurred the death of Mrs. John Kemmer. Mrs. Kemmer had made her home with the family of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. John Mauritzen, of this city, for some time and last Sunday went to the home of her son for a visit. Her death was caused by bronchial troubles, from which she had suffered much. She had been in her usual health for the past few weeks and no one thought that her life was so near an end. Deceased was born in Lahr, Prussia, March 7, 1831, and there married John Kemmer. They came to new York in 1868, where they remained a short time before coming to Illinois. On settling in the prairie state they located in this vicinity, where the family has since resided. Mr. Kemmer departed this life two and one-half years ago. They were the parents of six children, four of whom survive the mother. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Father Barry, from SS. Peter and Paul's church on Wednessday morning and the remains laid to rest in the Catholic cemetery.
