I haven't come across any John or Joseph Kennel's in my tree. But sometimes when coming to the US they change their name (ex: Carl to Charles and Henrich to Henry) so that may be throwing me off.
When looking in the 1860 Brooklyn, NY Census I found a "John Kennell" [we were Kennel, one "l" early on, so perhaps they were too] and a "Louis Kennell". John was 30 y/o, born in NY, master carpenter with $16,000 and $20,000 (a lot back then); wife Candie, 29 y/o: children: Jane, 5; Maillard, 4; Martha, 1. These are related to us, but perhaps to you?
I don't think our Kennel/l's were Amish or Amish Mennonite but perhaps further back they were?
My email is firstname.lastname@example.org As for the format to send the file...? I am not sure since I never used the Family Treemaker. Please give it a try and I'll let you know if I can read it. Thanks!
