Pat Abbott and I were still trying to determine the relationship between her Josiah and my Joab during her final illness. We agreed that they could be brothers, cousins, or ___?, but found nothing to give weight to one theory over another.
Statements of their descendants tend to be inconclusive and sometimes contradictory. In 1902, Josiah's daughter, Lydia, wrote a letter in which she referred to "the time when father and Uncle Joab came to Ohio." This title could indicate their relationship or might merely be a term of respect. Someone else quoted Lydia as saying that Joab and Josiah were cousins, but I don't know if there is proof that she actually said this.
Joab's son, Josiah (my ancestor), was apparently listed as Josiah Kenison, 2nd, when he married Ruby Dugal in Morgan Co, Ohio, on 27 January 1831. The frequent use of the names Josiah and Joab in these families make me believe they have ancestors or other early relatives by the same names.
I'll be very happy if someone finds evidence one way or the other regarding these relationships, and shares it with the rest of us.
