My mother's grandfather, my great-grandfather, was Earnest Arthur Mattingly and his wife was Ruthie "Vennie" Lavenna McNabb. My mother told me as a child when she would visit her grandparents, Ibby Glass was living with them and would try to hook my mother and the other children with a cane out of fun. The family photos were stolen when someone broke into my great-grandparents home and took them as a majority where in a nice gold frames so I have never seen a picture of "Aunt Ibby" or Vennie's mother, Kate McNabb. Is there anyway I could get a copy from you of the picture? I would pay for all costs, for the copying, shipping and handling.
If I understand you right, Peter was a member of the 1st TN Cavalry (USA)? I have him in the 1890 Special Veteran's Census (from transcription) in Barry County, MO in the town of Exeter as being a member of such. So if I read right, Peter H. Catron was a Private in Co. E, 1st Regiment TN Cavalry, etc? I want to make sure because I had another ancestor who served in the same unit, same company, who later came to Barry Co. MO as well. I think that's pretty neat to find out. I haven't found Peter's obit, if you'd let me have a copy of that I'd be indebted to you and pay for it as well.
I haven't even started on Anna England's family (was listed as Ann in one of the censuses..can't recall off the top of my head), have just been poking around with the Catrons. I wouldn't doubt if there was Melungeon on that side..I know that some family members have turned out dark as Indians. Can't prove it yet though. ;)
If I find out anything on anyone, I will definately let you know. I go at a snail's pace at times so it may be a while before I holler. Thank you.
