MRS. LOUISA BARRY was born in Jefferson County, Iowa, 69 years ago, departed this life at her home near Leon, Iowa, Friday, November 7, l924. Her husband answered the call of his Master l3 years ago.
She leaves to mourn her loss eleven children; FLORENCE, STEPHEN, JAMES, LAWRENCE, ANDREW and PATRICK, living at Leon, Iowa; JOHN J., MRS. C.C. SMITH and MRS. P.J. MCCARTHY, of California; Sister MARY PHILOMENA, Oklahoma City, Okla.; and Sister MARY BERROMEO, of Davenport, Iowa; also three brothers and four sisters, Mother MARY LEGOURI, Ottumwa, Iowa; ANTHONY and JOHN KETTERER, of Conception, Mo.; MRS. E. LYONS, of Osceola, Iowa, Sister MARY GENEVIVE, Clyde, Mo.; MRS. PETER WEBER and ENHART KETTERER, of California.
Coming from a family which gave several of its members to the service of Almighty God, she gave two of her daughters to the religious life. She was a devoted mother and a Catholic in the true sense of the word, one whose first concern was Almighty God and His Church. She was always ready to make sacrifces, so that the Church may have everything it stood in need of; and personal sacrifices, never fearing her own discomfort if others were relieved by her administrations.
Surrounded by her living family and fortified by the sacrament of the Church, she gave up her soul to Her Master, in that peace which can only come from the satisfaction of a close contact with the Kingdom of Christ.
Requiem High Mass was celebrated at St. Brendan's Church by the Pastor, Rev. J.C. Maher, and burial was in the Catholic Cemetery in Woodland Township.
